Nick and I talked a lot about the kind of venue we want for the wedding. We looked into many places, and they all just seemed to be missing some major component... we wanted something unique while still accommodating our traditional wedding needs. We wanted something unique to Tucson, something you wouldn't find anywhere else in the country.
One of the countless days we went looking around, we found the place pretty randomly. I vaguely remembered someone mentioning a place that had a similar name, and I looked it up on my phone while we were driving around. That place didn't come up, but Wild Horse Ranch did.
We drove out there and found it after looking around for a bit. It was sunset when we pulled up and no one was around, but the place is pretty open... we were able to just walk around the grounds and look into the windows of the building. A wedding had taken place the day before it looked like, so some wedding favors were lying around. We immediately fell in love with the place, and I took home a little party favor someone had left on a table--i little plastic wedding cake filled with bubbles, and the cake topper pulled off to become a wand. Topher Cats loved it. We had a lot of fun playing with him with the bubbles.
The place is really old and beautiful. It has a lot of historical area to it, but other areas are renovated and nice for things like the ceremony. There is an extremely old bar/saloon for the cocktail hour, which we both thought was pretty awesome. The dance area is nice with hardwood floors and lighting, and some beautiful wood beams.
The ceremony area is really nice. We want to have an outdoor ceremony at sunset, and this area is perfect. I generally don't like grass anywhere in Arizona, but this area does it really well. It doesn't look tacky or too fake. There's a nice little water path running around the ceremony area as well, breaking up the space and making it a little less formal.
We decided on the place pretty instantly and haven't had any second thoughts.

Engagement Photos
Nick and I wanted to take our engagement photos in Austin, since that's where we got engaged. We really enjoyed our time there; it's a magical place filled with opportunity and prospect. We woke up fairly early one Sunday and drove around looking for something that popped out at us as a great place to take photos. We found a few spots, but none really stuck in our minds as we were off searching for more.
We finally saw a place that was what I had thought of when I was thinking of the photos beforehand. There were big green trees, Texas grass, and a nice little "pond." The place was strange though, because it was situated at a pretty major intersection... it wasn't as secluded as it looks in the photos. The place benefited from being many feet below the street, to where you could not see the roads... a tree covering blocked them, and the views out in the other direction were unobstructed.
So we settled on our ideal less-than-ideal spot, and I loved it. Our good friends Carlos and Erin came out to photograph us, and it went really well. We went near sunset and got more shots than I know what to do with, and then we rushed downtown to take a few photos on the water at Lake Austin/Ladybird. I wish we had had time to redo this part of the shoot, because by the time we got downtown we had lost most of the daylight and we only had a few photos. However, they came out good I think for all the rushing.

Introduction
We've been wanting to create one of these for quite some time and could not settle on a name that seemed right. I made this one up out of the blue. It is inspired by lyrics to one of our favorite music albums, Calexico/Iron and Wine, In The Reins. This particular CD has many songs on it that we plan to play for our wedding, and holds a special place in our hearts. The name also points to our wedding venue, Wild Horse Ranch.
That being said, the big day information is as follows:
